Dr. See Seng Tan
Dr. See Seng Tan is President and CEO of International Students Inc. (ISI). Based in Colorado Springs in Colorado, ISI is a global ministry dedicated to sharing Christ’s love with international students and scholars in colleges and universities throughout America and beyond. A citizen of Singapore, Seng was an international student in the United States. He joined the staff of ISI after graduate school in 1999 and worked with international students at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Following a 20-year career in academia, Seng re-joined ISI in 2019, serving in his present capacity. Called to global cross-cultural ministry as an undergraduate and having participated actively in numerous short-term missions in Europe and Southeast Asia over the years, Seng’s current stint with ISI is a continuation of his ongoing engagement in world missions. A passionate preacher and teacher of God's word, he sees his God-given role as helping the Church rise and shine such that nations and kings—the world’s best and brightest and its future leaders and captains of industry—will be drawn to the light of the Lord (Isaiah 60:1-3).
A political scientist by profession before entering vocational ministry, Seng was a tenured full Professor of International Relations at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He previously directed the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies and the Centre for Multilateralism Studies, both based in Singapore. Seng is the author and/or editor of 15 books and has published over a hundred academic papers and book chapters. His latest authored works include Awaiting the Impossible: A Dialogue with Derrida, Deconstruction, and the Endless Wait for Messiah (Wipf & Stock, forthcoming), The Responsibility to Provide in Southeast Asia: Towards an Ethical Explanation (Bristol UP, 2019), and The Legal Authority of ASEAN as a Security Institution (Cambridge UP, 2019). Seng obtained his PhD from Arizona State University, where he received the 2018 Distinguished Alum award from ASU’s School of Politics and Global Studies, and MA and BA (Honors First) degrees from the University of Manitoba. He is currently pursuing a D.Min. from Biola's Talbot School of Theology.
A former elder at Bedok Methodist Church in Singapore, Seng and his family now worship at New Life Church in Colorado Springs. He is married to Trina, one of Singapore’s top realtors, and they have a daughter, Elisabeth.
